Top-level comments on this article: (2 total)Good information. I have been considering the possibility of using solar panels to provide power for my house and cut the electric bill. I have heard that I could build the panels myself much cheaper and cut the entire project cost by about 75%. If this is true, then it makes it worth doing.If your electronically inclined I think it is possible. The science behind the panels is not difficult. I would still recommend having at least three solar contractors out to review you house and needs. You never know what info you will learn. Good luck. One point to consider if your have a newer roof all is set. If you roof is older and need of replacement soon you my wish to look into that first. There is also a stimulus package for solar panel installation. That may make if more interesting to go with an installer.
